ABOUTKRCT
The Kosova Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims (KRCT) is a non-governmental organization that was founded in 1999 with the mission to provide treatment and rehabilitation to Kosovar torture survivors. Since its foundation, KRCT has been working with survivors of sexual violence from the war time, addressing their needs to authorities was key advocacyfor KRCT. In this regard, the principal achievement happened in 2017 when for the first time the status of survivors of wartime sexual violence was recognized by law as civilian war victims, which was followed by the governmentdecision to fund pension for this social category.
KRCT has actively advocated in improvement of legal framework for people deprived of their liberty with responsible authorities. Thus, KRCT continuously monitor the rights of people deprived from their liberty in places of detentions, as well as in Mental Health and Social Care Institutions. Additionally, KRCT was involved with identifying, assessing, treating, referring and monitoring of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors among repatriated and persons of concern to UNHCR (returnees, refugees, internally displaced persons and persons at risk of statelessness). Thus, KRCT continues to pursue its mission by helping survivors obtain justice; advocating with government, parliament and international organizations on the need to respect the prohibition of torture and working in partnership with like-mined organizations around the world to eradicate torture.
DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES
- Provide psychological services for identified persons (asylum seekers, refugees, returnees and otherpersons of concern to UNHCR), who are subject to GBV or survivors of torture and trauma;
- Performs psychological assessment of asylum seekers, refugees, returnees and other persons of concern to UNHCR),who are subjectto GBV or survivors of torture and trauma;
- Holds psychological consultations with identified persons of concern, monitors traumatic stress disorders, and provides information and support to better understand and cope with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and other disorders;
- Provide technical guidance and support to UNHCR and partners on psychologically related issues ensuring management of individual cases of GBV and child protection are addressed and supervised;
- Performs advisory work with families and children in the field of social welfare and child care;
- Organize and facilitate recreational and free time activities for children and adults in Asylum Centre;
- Implement and monitor programmes on an AGDM basis to address identified protection needs;
- Provide technical guidance and support to UNHCR and partners on all psychosocial related issues;
- Develop and coordinate capacity-building initiatives for government and other partners to promote and assert the rights of persons of concern to UNHCR.
QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant with proven track record of relevant experience of similar assignment are invited to apply. In particular it is required:
- University degree in Psychology (Masterin Psychology is an advantage)
- Minimum 2 (two) years of clinical experience;
- Excellent knowledge in English, preferably working knowledge of other local languages as well;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills,negotiation and conflictresolution competences and political awareness;
- Flexibility,readiness for teamworkand dedication;
- Willingness to learn and developprofessionally and personally;
- Possession of B category of driving license.
