Project Coordinator in Rahovec, Kosovo (40h/week, 09/2022-12/2023)
BACKGROUND
The Kosovo Youth Participation Project (KYP) is an EU-funded project with the main objective to foster democratic participation, civic engagement, and social inclusion of different groups of marginalized youth in Kosovo. This objective will be furthered through increased participation of disadvantaged youth, promotion of employability and volunteerism, and promotion of gender equality, solidarity, inter-cultural relations.
Rahovec-based youth organization SHL Kosova (SHL-K) will engage as a co-applicant in the project, implementing activities in several municipalities in Kosovo. The position is based in SHL Kosova’s youth center in Rahovec/Orahovac.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The project coordinator is responsible for SHL-K’s tasks within the project, including planning, implementation and reporting towards the main applicant. This includes:
- Inclusion in an initial mapping of youth needs and capacities,
- Establishing contacts with local communities, youth groups, and local media
- Arranging placement of the project media/communication content
- Communication and cooperation with civil society networks
- especially concerning advocacy and democratic dialogue on the central level and overlook the engagement of SHL-K in the project
- conceptualization and implementation of youth activities in the area of empowerment and civic engagement
- Inclusion in all project selection processes, participate in planning and realization of capacity building and monitoring of realization of the project in the field.
Institutional Arrangement
Under the direct supervision of and in cooperation with the main applicant’s Project Manager, the Project Coordinator has the overall responsibility for achieving the project results (outputs) as defined in the approved project document and in the annual workplans through timely and quality implementation and monitoring. These tasks include:
o Being part of the core team for project management and coordination
o be included in all decision making and planning processes taking place within the project,
o maintain relations with third parties of interest for project implementation (including civil society, media, duty bearers, institutions)
o lead information campaigns promoting the project throughout its duration.
o maintain regular communication within the team and between the main applicant and SHL-K staff,
o organize and lead regular meetings with partners
o Development of ToRs for the project

Experience/Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study
o Previous experience in youth engagement and empowerment or related work for an international agency or donor organization or NGO is essential
o Familiarity with the EU funded projects and previous experience of working for or with the EU is considered a distinct asset
o Proven track record in coordinating complex programs with diverse range of partners
o Knowledge and practical experience in strategic planning, stakeholder cooperation, multi-partner coordination, and project cycle design, management, and implementation.
o Proficiency in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
Required Language(s):
o Fluency in English and Albanian (verbal and written)
o Knowledge of Serbian language is desired.

About SHL Kosova
SHL Kosova (SHL-K) is an NGO registered in Kosovo working with youth and committed to empowering young people. SHL-K was established in 2008 with support of the German foundation Schüler Helfen Leben (SHL) and on the basis of the SHL-run youth, resource and training center in Rahovec/Orahovac. Since 1999, SHL has been actively involved in the work for young people off all backgrounds in the community of Rahovec/Orahovac. Until today, SHL and SHL-K closely cooperate in supporting young people’s active involvement within civil society on both local and national level.
