Cost Control Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cost Control Specialist to

join our team. The Cost Control Specialist will play a crucial role in monitoring,

analyzing, and controlling project cost performance to ensure successful

completion within budget and schedule constraints. This position requires strong

analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate

effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and improvement of budgeting and forecasting
• processes and tools specific to the construction and development
• industry.
• Analyze project budgets, actual costs, and commitments to identify
• variances and potential risks associated with construction projects.
• Update and maintain the budget forecast by incorporating the latest
• commitments from the job cost report.
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and forecasts, identifying any
• deviations and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
• Generate project status reports, variance analysis, and other relevant cost
• control documentation.
• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure proper integration of budget
• forecasts into financial reporting systems.
• Review subcontractor AIA and vendor receipts and advise whether
• payment should be made.
• Collaborate with project managers and other relevant stakeholders to
• gather information on commitments, change orders, and other financial
• updates.
• Participate in project meetings to provide updates on project performance
• and contribute to decision-making processes

Job requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a
• related field.
• Preferred experience in cost accounting, project controls, project
• management, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of budgeting processes and principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with
• financial software systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
• effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
